California Senior Amateur Championship Contestants,

 We are looking forward to having you compete in the 33rd California Senior Amateur Championship at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach on November 18-20, 2024. The following information is important as it pertains to your participation in the championship. Please review this information thoroughly as it will greatly assist you in preparing to compete in the championship. 
 

The winner of the 2024 California Senior Amateur Championship will receive an exemption into Final Qualifying of the 2025 U.S. Senior Open Championship. 

 

LOCAL HOTELS

  

The Pine Inn and Tally-Ho Inn have offered $179 for a queen room and $199 for an ocean view king room. Please identify yourself as a player in the California Senior Amateur Championship.

PRACTICE ROUNDS – PLAYERS ONLY

Monterey Peninsula is graciously offering each player one complimentary practice round on Sunday, November 17th – 12:30 p.m. Shotgun Start. Online registration for a practice round will open at 8:00 a.m. on November 4th. Please sign-up HERE. Do not contact golf shop for a November 17th practice round.

For those unable to play on November 17th, a limited number of afternoon times are available from November 11 - 16 only. Please reach out to the golf shop to make arrangements.

NOTE: There are no food and beverage options during the practice round.    

 

REGISTRATION

All participants must check in at the registration table located near the golf shop upon arrival. Registration will be open Sunday, November 17th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and Monday, November 18th from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Sunday, November 17

Practice Range opens at 10:30 a.m.

Arrivals and registration – 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Practice rounds for contestants – 12:30 p.m. Shotgun Start

 

Monday, November 18

Practice Range opens at 6:30 a.m.

First Round – starting times from 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. from the #1 tee

Hosted lunch 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

 

Tuesday, November 19

Practice Range opens at 6:30 a.m.

Second Round – starting times from 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. from the #1 tee

Hosted lunch 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

 

Wednesday, November 19

Practice Range opens at 6:30 a.m.

Final Round – starting times from 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. from the #1 tee

Hosted lunch 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Awards Presentation Ceremony immediately upon completion of play. 

 

DRIVING RANGE AND PRACTICE FACILITIES

Smoking is prohibited at the driving range and practice putting and chipping greens. The driving range will not be available to players after their round.

 

LOCKER ROOMS

The Men’s Locker Room will be open and available for use by players. However, there are no lockers available to use for storage during the event. Players should use the locker room when changing shoes as it is prohibited by the club to do so in the parking lot.

DRESS CODE

Contestants, caddies, and gallery, and will be strictly enforced during the championship week. Suitable attire must be worn at all times. Suitable attire DOES NOT include jeans or denim of any kind or color, running suits, tank tops, t-shirts or unkempt clothing of any kind. Shorts are NOT permitted. All shirts must have collars and must be worn tucked in. Failure to adhere to the dress code may result in disqualification and removal from club property. Gentlemen shall remove their hats indoors.

 

MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION (CARTS)

Golf carts are included as part of the entry fee; however, players who are able and willing to walk may do so.

  • There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Players wishing to ride will be expected to share a cart with another player.
  • Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk.
  • Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates).

 

PULL CARTS

The use of pull carts is allowed. Monterey Peninsula Country Club has some available.


CADDIES

Players may provide their own caddie.

Monterey Peninsula has a limited number of caddies available for the championship. Reservations can be made by contacting Jim Reid, Caddy Manager via email jreid@mpccpb.org  The fee is $175 plus gratuity per round.


SPECTATOR CARTS AND GALLERY

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted. 

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

All major credit cards are accepted at the golf shop only.

 

NO HOSTED BREAKFAST

Players, caddies and spectators are on their own for breakfast in the morning.  A player’s only lunch is provided each day of the championship.  The Sea Serpent Food Truck, at the tee of the 12th Hole, will not be open until 9:00 a.m. There are no food and beverage options available at the clubhouse. The Sea Serpent Food Truck is CASH ONLY during the tournament.

 

HOSTED LUNCH EACH DAY OF CHAMPIONSHIP

Lunch (included in the entry fee) each day for players (Monday - Wednesday). Lunch will be in the Ball Room. Caddies and Spectators may purchase food from the Sea Serpent Food Truck - Cash only. There are no food options at the clubhouse.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION
The golf shop will open at 6:30 a.m.  The Sea Serpent Food Truck at the #12 tee is open each day from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Practice facility/driving range will open each day at 6:30 a.m.

 

FORMAT

Individual Stroke Play - The Individual Championship shall be conducted over 54 holes.  There is a cut after 36 holes to the low 30 scores + ties. In the event of a tie for the individual champion will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately after the conclusion of play.

           

AWARDS

Individual – The low individual scorer will receive a Gold Championship Medal and his name will be engraved on the California Senior Amateur Championship Perpetual Trophy.  Individuals finishing second will receive a Silver Championship Medal.  Individuals finishing third will receive a Bronze Championship Medal. 

 

PACE OF PLAY

The CGA pace of play policy will be in effect for this championship. A separate memorandum to players with the details of this policy will be made available on the championship portal and also handed out at registration and on the first tee.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
Players are encouraged to be familiar with the Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be available on the championship portal and handed out at registration and the first tee.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.

 

CONDUCT CODE

The CGA expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, CGA, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or CGA volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of CGA Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge for determining Conduct Code violations.

 

CUSTOMS AND COURTESIES

  • Cell phones may be utilized in the Club Parking Lots. The Locker Room offers a telephone room for privacy. Silent texting and the reading of emails is allowed.
  • Smoking is prohibited at the Driving Range and the practice putting and chipping greens.
  • Please fill each divot made with the seed provided on the cart.
  • Rakes shall be replaced perpendicular to the fairways with the handle out of the bunker and the rest of the rake inside the bunker.
  • If driving a cart, please enter and exit the fairways through the designated green posts with white caps.
  • Please repair all ball marks
